Yakolev Yak-1b Squadron

This fast and agile single-seater plane came into service just in time to meet the German Invasion of Russia in 1941. Its quick turning rate and great performance at low altitude made it a worthy opponent for the German fighters of the time. The most notable use of the Yak-1 was during the Battle of Stalingrad, protecting friendly troops and attempting to maintain aerial superiority.
